Zorba
Zorba is an embeddable and high-performance XQuery engine in C++. Zorba will run on a wide range of platforms including smartphones and servers. Zorba will implement the following functionality:
- XQuery 1.0 and XPath 2.0 (as in the W3C recommendation)
- XML Updates (as in the evolving W3C recommendation)
- XQuery FullText (as in the evolving W3C recommendation)
- XQueryP (scripting extensions for XQuery)
- Extension to process streaming data: windows and continuous XQuery expressions (design in process)
- Embeddable into small devices (e.g., SmartPhones).

Zorba is co-developed and designed with MXQuery. MXQuery is an embeddable Java-based open source XQueryP engine. MXQuery was released under the Apache 2.0 license in December 2006 (download MXQuery).
